365ae61c5c package/dvb-apps: bump revision
In this new revision, there is no longer transponders data, so dvb-apps
now only installs the dvb-apps utilities.

Packages that needs the transponders data have now all been switched to
use dtv-scan-tables instead, so we don't need a legacy option for the
transponders data.

However, we add a legacy option for the utilities option, just to inform
the user of the new behaviour.

Sadly, a user that had dvb-apps selected just to get the transponders
data will now get the full dvb-apps package installed. There's nothing
we can really do about this.

c110099191 package/dvb-apps: rely on dtv-scan-tables to provide transponder data
This is a transitioning solution before switching packages that need the
transponders data, to use dtv-scan-tables instead of dvb-apps.

e18242fd81 package/dtv-scan-tables: new package
The dvb-apps package used to carry pre-scanned transponders data. These
transponders data have now been moved out of dvb-apps, and into their
own repository.

So, until we bump the dvb-apps package (to come in a follow-up patch),
dtv-scan-tables is exclusive to dvb-apps.

To be noted: the licensing information for those data is dubious. The
package carries the COPYING and COPYING.LIB files, hinting that the data
is covered by the GPLv2 *and* the LGPLv2.1. This is incoherent, and
dubious:

  - since GPLv2 is a superset of LGPLv2.1, the actual license would be
    just plan GPLv2;

  - the transponders data is just a collection of 'facts': the
frequencies of each transponder; as such, it is usally not considered
to be a 'work' as per traditional copyright, and thus should be in
the public domain [cue the zoneinfo DB not so long ago].

But since this is a difficult question, we'll leave to the user to sort
these things out.

9efd3bd079 libubox: fix build with lua option
Fixes
http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/fc6/fc64896ca5c3b05dfe4b5c5e7d25fc4b6c9976ad/
and a bunch of similar failures.

When Lua package is selected, libubox sets an option to build with Lua
binding. Unfortunately, if LUAPATH is not passed libubox seeks it on
the host instead of staging due to hard coded pkg-config commands in
its CMake file. As a result Lua is not found and the build fails.
Fix it by passing LUAPATH in LIBUBOX_CONF_OPT.

Similarly, libubox seeks LUA_CFLAGS with the host's pkg-config for the
same reason. To prevent potential errors, fix it by passing LUA_CFLAGS
in LIBUBOX_CONF_OPT.

Finally, libubox fails to build with Lua 5.2 because it uses functions
removed from this version.
Fix it by activating the option only with Lua 5.1.

a85c452a2d xbmc: new package
XBMC is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media
player and entertainment hub for digital media.

We do provide a sub-option for each major feature we support, to avoid
letting the user hunt-down required libraries, since the dependency is
not always obvious and straightforward.

We also provide our own wrapper script, because the ones bundled in
XBMC are not suitable to all platforms. We need such a wrapper script
because XBMC exits with different exit codes, depending on how the user
quit XBMC: 0 is normal exit, 64 is for halt, and 66 is for reboot. So
we can't simply call the real XBMC binary from the startup script, or
we would lose this information. So, we provide a wrapper script that
takes appropriate action according to the above exit codes.

When run as root from a startup script, there is no HOME set, so XBMC
defaults to saving its configuration in /.xbmc (yes, at the root of the
rootfs). Since this does not play well with read-only filesystems (and
is inherently ugly anyway), and sicne there is no real clean way to tell
XBMC where to store its configuration, just provide a symlink to a better
place: /.xbmc -> /var/xbmc (note: the only location _guaranteed_ to be
writable is /tmp, but we want the configuration to survive a reboot. So,
/var/xbmc looks a better place than /var/run/xbmc. and the user will
have to take action to ensure /var/xbmc be writable.) (note: for this
reason, we do not want to set $HOME to /root either, even if it is root
running XBMC.)

Some of XBMC sub-options select libraries that depend on toolchain options,
such as IPv6. But those are already covered, being also implicit
dependencies of XBMC, as XBMC can only be used on an (e)glibc toolchain
anyway. When^WIf XBMC is one day buildable under uClibc/musl, this will be
time to revisit those dependencies.

4a93b8f72b libubox: correct json-c handling
Fixes http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/5a8/5a85e0e132f38a4a1a42c2b041f66003b64e748a/
(and a bunch of similar failures)

libubox has optional json-c handling, including the legacy version which
used libjson.so. Unfortunately this support is buggy, so we end up with the
wrong compiler flags, and more importantly it gets confused if libjson is
enabled, as that also provides a (incompatible) libjson.so.

Fix it by disabling the legacy handling.

16bfc11df4 package/ncurses: Remove duplicated library install code
Currently, the ncurses package conditionally defines macros to install
the panel, form and menu libraries. This means we duplicate the install
step for each library type.

Rather than defining a set of macros, this change introduces a variable
for the set of installed libraries, $(NCURSES_LIBS-y). We use this in a
single macro to perform the library installation in one place.

Based on a change suggested by Thomas Petazzoni
<thomas.petazzoni@free-electrons.com>.

a1a86ebfba liburcu: disable build with gcc-4.8.x on ARM
Because of a gcc bug [1], liburcu checks for compiler version [2] and
stops the build prematurely if gcc-4.8.[0-2] is detected for ARM.

However a bug fix exists [3] and may be backported by ARM toolchain
providers; that's what is done in Buildroot [4] or Linaro [5].

So, this change:
- add a patch in liburcu to allow build with ARM gcc-4.8.2;
- adds a new hidden symbol to reflect the toolchain status with regard
  to this bug [1];
- and controls liburcu visibility.

However, a limitation of this is when the user is using a custom
toolchain; that's why the bug details have been added in the liburcu
help message.

f4642eea7e pkg-autotools: add a AUTOCONF_AC_CHECK_FILE_VAL macro
When configure.ac scripts do AC_CHECK_FILE tests, they always fail in
cross-compilation contexts because it is not possible to check for
file existence during the build process. Therefore we have to preseed
the configure environment with ac_cv_file_<foo>=yes variable, <foo>
being the path of the file, where all slashes, dots or dashes have
been replaced by underscores.

In the context of the boot-wrapper-aarch64, we will have to use three
of these variables, with fairly complex paths. So instead of
replicating the logic each time, we create a
AUTOCONF_AC_CHECK_FILE_VAL macro to help defining such variables.

c0e8ff6b27 systemd: bump to version 210.
This patch bumps systemd to version 210. Systemd 209 introduced some majors
changes, which generated a lot of feedback and bugfixes. This lead to
version 210 a few days later.

Notable changes in 210:

- dropped dependency on libdbus in favor of internal sd-bus library.
- experimental support for kdbus.
- introduction of systemd-networkd, a simple network configuration manager.
- merge of libsystemd-*.so libraries into libsystemd.so.
- changes in Gudev API.

See NEWS file in the tarball for an exhaustive list.

Changes introduced by this bump:

- new configuration menu entry to enable systemd-networkd, which is an
alternative to ISC dhcp and dhcpcd.
- remove EFI patch for version 208.
- update of the getty unit patch.
- new patch to remove the *.service files accidentally shipped in the
official tarball (contain some invalid hardcoded paths) and force
  their re-generation.

f68c4ab872 chrony: bump version
Fixes CVE-2014-0021: Amplification in chrony control protocol

In the chrony control protocol some replies are significantly larger than
their requests, which allows an attacker to use it in an amplification
attack. With hosts allowed by cmdallow (only localhost by default) the
maximum amplification factor is 9.2. Hosts that are not allowed receive a
small reply with error status, which allows amplification of up to 1.5.

To fix the problem, the protocol has been modified to require padding in the
request packet, so replies are never larger than their requests. Also,
chronyd no longer sends replies with error status to hosts that are not
allowed by cmdallow.

01ab9e6b0e gst1-plugins-bad: add missing opencv ml module dependency
gst1-plugins-bad source code does include the old-style global opencv
header "opencv/cv.h", which includes headers from the core, imgproc,
video, features2d, flann, calib3d, objdetect and legacy modules.

However, the legacy module, in addition to headers from some of the
previously listed modules, also includes headers from the ml module.

Thus, the ml module must be selected to be able to build the legacy
one, so the gst-plugins-bad's opencv plugin.

6c94ab3cfd host-python{, 3}: fix parallel install of libpython
During installation, host-python and host-python3 run the freshly built
python executable. This is done with a proper LD_LIBRARY_PATH to make
sure it picks up the libpython in the build directory. However, the
python binary has an RPATH pointing to the $(HOST_DIR)/usr/lib.
Therefore, if libpython exists there, it will be used instead.

If the install step is run in parallel, it is possible that libpython
is already partially copied to $(HOST_DIR)/usr/lib when python is run.
This gives an error like:

python: error while loading shared libraries: $(HOST_DIR)/usr/lib/libpython3.4m.so.1.0: file too short

The fix is simple: use RUNPATH instead of RPATH, which allows
LD_LIBRARY_PATH to override RUNPATH. That way, the libpython in the
build directory is always used. RUNPATH is enabled by passing
--enable-new-dtags to the linker.

f5866484ff libnftnl: exclude for CS PPC toolchains
The CS PPC 2011.3 and 2010.9 toolchains have a bad linux/socket.h header
that doesn't define sa_family_t which is used by linux/netlink.h (and

Patching external toolchain headers wouldn't be too nice and they seem

based on 2.6.38 headers and vanilla 2.6.38 has the proper definitions in

wpa_supplicant doesn't use pkg-config and upstream likely wouldn't take

Made ugly by the fact that wpa_supplicant uses LIBS for the

wpa_passphrase binary.

b119a108c7 wpa_supplicant: bump to version 2.1
Now with 802.11ac and P2P support.

CONFIG_LIBNL32 was a hidden option so switch to ENABLE/DISABLE now.
CONFIG_DRIVER_ATMEL was dropped.
CONFIG_DELAYED_MIC is no longer optional.
CONFIG_AP was also hidden so also switch to ENABLE/DISABLE.
CONFIG_EAP_* now blindly enabled instead of doing one per each.

P2P support is unified with the AP mode config knob since it's the more
likely scenario and share code between them.

dee1cf0cdf samba4: new package
Samba 4.1.x uses the waf build system which isn't very cross-compile
friendly, and also some tests are formulated in a way that isn't
cross-build friendly either by needing to run them.

For this reason the samba4 build system includes a way to define
answers for many of the tests, but this support isn't complete
and some tests still want to be executed.

Samba 4.1.x also requires a proper answers file for each architecture,
and at the moment i've only tested for ARM and PowerPC so only those
architectures are supported to begin with. To add support for another
architecture basically copy one of the cache files to the proper name,
enable it in Config.in and adjust endianess and all of the "size of"
answers. I'm in the process of automating the sizeof and endianess
answers within the samba build system to make them cross friendly
to simplify the answers file to just one generic linux variant.
The 3.6.x branch is still security supported for the forseeable future.

I'm currently working with samba upstream to solve many of these
issues but this will probably happen with the yet unreleased
4.2 branch only.

7669aab6b4 luarocks: remove luainterpreter dependency
All packages using the luarocks infrastructure need a dependency on
luainterpreter, because having the Lua interpreter for the target is
needed to built native Lua modules. This dependency is already taken
care of in pkg-luarocks.mk.

However, host-luarocks, which is built as a dependency of the extract
step of any luarocks package, also had a dependency on
luainterpreter. Not only this was not necessary, but it was causing
problems with 'make legal-info'. Since 'make legal-info' triggers the
extraction of all packages, as soon as a luarocks package was enabled,
it would trigger the build of host-luarocks, itself triggering the
build of luainterpreter and therefore its dependencies, amongst which
the entire cross-compilation toolchain.

[Thomas: reword commit log to include more detailed explanations.]

Arnout Vandecappelle
39a00df346 vlc: avoid that AUTORECONF renames configure's arguments
VLC defines two autoconf functions which are also defined by our own
pkg.m4 from pkgconf. Unfortunately, they are defined in a different way:
VLC adds --enable- options, but pkg.m4 adds --with- options. To make
sure we use VLC's definition, rename these two functions from
PKG_WITH_MODULES to VLC_PKG_WITH_MODULES and from PKG_HAVE_WITH_MODULES
to VLC_PKG_HAVE_WITH_MODULES.

Note that the second function (PKG_HAVE_WITH_MODULES) is in fact
defined in exactly the same way by VLC and pkgconf, but this might no
longer be the case when either pkgconf or VLC is updated. Therefore,
that one is renamed as well.

d7f13e500e Revert "vlc: fix some configure options"
This reverts commit 020047730b.

The change of configuration option from --{enable,disable}-* to
--{with,without} was made because we autoreconf vlc, but some vlc m4
functions are overriden by functions coming from our pkg.m4. An
upcoming patch from Arnout fixes the problem in a better way by
renaming the problematic macro so that they have a different name
between their vlc specific variants and the pkg.m4 variants.

bec21dcfa7 python, python3: fix unicodedata enabling
A confusion was made when applying commit
c3d539b53f ('host python/python3:
conditionally disable unicodedata') and then commit
73293e88c8 ('python, python3: enable
unicodedata for host-python, needed by setuptools').

The first commit added the enabling of unicodedata in the host Python
when the target Python is configured with unicodedata, which is
necessary because building the target unicodedata Python module
requires having unicodedata support in the host Python.

The second commit enabled the unicodedata unconditionally in the host
Python, because it is needed by host-setuptools.

However, when the second commit was applied, the logic that consisted
in disabling unicodedate in the host Python when not needed was kept,
which resulted in breaking the build of host-setuptools due to the
lack of unicodedata support in the host python.

This commit fixes that by only leaving the unconditional
--enable-unicodedata in the host Python configuration options, and
therefore removing the problematic conditional --disable-unicodedata.

VLC cannot build static and shared libraries at the same time.

Also, live555 only has a static library, and VLC tries to link this into

1ddf44a3ab pcsc-lite: add patch to fix libusb detection when linking statically
When libusb support is requested in pcsc-lite, the configure script will try
to link a test application to check libusb_init(). However, when libusb
needs threads, the linking step should link in threads as well.

The configure script, first tries to call libusb-config to determine the
necessary cflags and libraries (which should include the thread flags), but
this program does not exist, so the cflags/libs variables are empty.

Therefore, add a patch to explicitly add PTHREAD_CFLAGS and PTHREAD_LIBS to
the libusb test, so libusb is detected correctly.

a957e1b265 gcc: fix xtensa overlay application
gcc build scripts use wrong variable name to specify xtensa overlay
application command. As a result gcc is built with the default overlay,
which leads to obscure failures later in the build process.

de62a1ab61 libxml2: do not detect zlib/lzma when not available
The host-libxml2 package does not depend on zlib or lzma, but may
detect versions available on the host. This can cause problems in the
following situation:

1 host-libxml2 is built, finds an available lzma library in the
system, enables lzma support by using it.

2 host-xz is built, which installs a different version of the lzma
   library into $(HOST_DIR)

3 host-libxslt is built, tries to link against libxml2, which fails
because now the visible lzma library is the one from
$(HOST_DIR)/usr/lib and no longer the one libxml2 was built agains.

To fix this, this patch passes --without-zlib and --without-lzma to
the host package.

In addition, since the target variant of libxml2 does not have
provisions to depend on the target lzma, we also pass --without-lzma
for the target variant. The case of zlib for the target was already
properly taken into account.

40089283e9 luajit: pass LDCONFIG=true to make sure dynamic library links are created
To install its shared library, the luajit Makefile does:

        cd src && test -f $(FILE_SO) && \
          $(INSTALL_X) $(FILE_SO) $(INSTALL_DYN) && \
          $(LDCONFIG) $(INSTALL_LIB) && \
          $(SYMLINK) $(INSTALL_SONAME) $(INSTALL_SHORT1) && \
          $(SYMLINK) $(INSTALL_SONAME) $(INSTALL_SHORT2) || :

This means that if ldconfig doesn't work or isn't available on the
system, it won't create the libluajit-5.1.so -> libluajit-5.1.so.5.2.0
symbolic link.

Not having this symbolic link prevents lua-ev from finding the shared
version of the luajit library, and it fallbacks to using the
libluajit.a static library. However, this static library is not built
with -fPIC, so using it within a shared library doesn't work, and
leads to build failures on architectures that really do want to have
non-fPIC code into a shared library, such as x86-64.

By passing LDCONFIG=true during the installation steps of luajit, we
ensure that the symbolic links are created, which allows lua-ev to
detect the shared library properly, making everybody happy.

Investigation conducted with Samuel Martin. Thanks!

e33019aaa0 vlc: add warning that it has known issues
We've seen autobuilder failures for vlc on many platforms and we don't
know how to solve them. It is also currently orphaned, i.e. there is
nobody who is actively using the package and maintaining it in
buildroot.

We could mark the package as BROKEN, but that would make it completely
invisible for the users and the autobuilders, which would not help its
orphan-ness. Therefore, instead, add a big fat warning in the config
menus that it has known issues.

f72fe5736c packages: improve dependency check in virtual packages.
The current version of dependency check for virtual package <foo>
defines FOO_CONFIGURE_CMDS to print an error message if the
dependencies are not met.

This patch updates all the virtual packages to use the GNU Make control

ed73d1d2e3 libtool: fix build on systems with automake-1.11 (e.g. Fedora 10)
package/libtool/libtool-0001-mips64-n64-linking.patch touches an m4
file, so applying it triggers a run of autoconf, automake, etc. This
sometimes leads to build failures due to incompatible system autotools.
This was observed on Fedora 10, which has automake 1.11 while the
generated files that are included in the tarball require automake
1.11.1.

We cannot simply set HOST_LIBTOOL_AUTORECONF = YES because that would
create a circular dependency on host-libtool. Therefore, the patch
patch is applied on the installed libtool.m4 instead of in the source
tree. Then, it also needs to be renamed to something that doesn't
match buildroot's patch convention so it doesn't get picked up
automatically.

a8da3cd61a util-linux: libblkid needs fork(), disable on !MMU
The libblkid library in util-linux uses fork. While it seems
potentially possible to disable the parts of the library that use fork
(the only parts using fork are parts related to LVM and Device Mapper,
which are said to be legacy as they are replaced by sysfs based
scanning, instead of having to fork to run a separate process).

However, since libblkid is used by:

 - e2fsprogs, which uses lots of fork all over the place
 - udev, which most likely will also need fork

There is not much point in making libblkid fork-less. As a
consequence, this commit makes util-linux/libblkid unavailable on
non-MMU architectures, and propagates the relevant dependency to the
reverse dependencies of libblkid.

This fixes the e2fsprogs build failure seen on Blackfin. The failure
was due to a configure test of e2fsprogs which was trying to link a
small test program against libblkid, which failed because there was an
undefined reference to fork() in the libblkid code.

848c5b9480 cairo: improve the Blackfin build fix
Patch cairo-001-blackfin-build-fix.patch was added in commit
d372d0b677 ('cairo: add patch to fix
Blackfin build failure') to take into account the fact that Blackfin
has a non-empty USER_LABEL_PREFIX: C symbol 'foo' corresponds to
assembly symbol '_foo', contrary to most other architectures where
they are the same.

However, the patch was only fixing the relevant macros in
src/cairo-compiler-private.h and did not take into account the
duplicated version of these macros in
util/cairo-script/cairo-script-private.h. This commit fixes that.

This commit is fixing a build failure on Blackfin, for which there was
no recorded autobuilder result because this problem was hidden by the
problem fixed by the previous commit ('cairo: fix build on Blackfin in
test/cairo-test-runner.c').

https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113638

Until this problem is fixed, we disable webkit on powerpc.

5e986624b2 alsa-utils/Config.in: move comment to top, to fix nesting of config options
To allow proper nesting of suboptions of a package, the suboptions should
come directly after the main option, and cannot be interleaved with a
comment.

9520a56810 alsa-utils: disable on no-mmu platforms (fork)
alsa-utils uses fork which is not available on targets without MMU support.
It seems to be possible to replace fork with vfork in alsa-utils, but we do
not like to carry such patches in buildroot without them being accepted
upstream.

ffd7a00aef alsa-lib: add patch to remove hardcoded -ldl
The AM_PATH_ALSA macro in utils/alsa.m4 unconditionally uses -ldl. This
breaks compilation of alsa-utils (and probably other packages using this
macro) for targets that do not support dynamic loading, such as for
Blackfin FLAT binaries.

This patch updates the macro to check if dlopen is available, and use that
result to conditionally add -ldl to the list of libraries.
