260d446147 openvmtools: fix legal info
In ab71dff0 it was moved to SUBDIR, but this was never reflected for the
legal-info files, update this to fix:
http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/836/8363943cc9c967713f585209408ea087a052a12d/

[Thomas: put OPENVMTOOLS_SUBDIR before OPENVMTOOLS_LICENSE_FILES, as
suggested by Yann.]

3adb887e3f package/{mesa3d, mesa3d-headers}: bump version to 10.6.0
Mesa3d 10.6 adds optional support for SHA-1:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/commit/configure.ac?id=a24bdce46f95cbe9efd3b26f157d1eb36584861f

Adding "--without-sha1" will cause this failure during configure:

configure: error: Illegal value for --with-sha1: no

so I did not add the else-clause when no SHA-1 provider is enabled.

76e176a075 package/gdb: gdb+expat build fix
Commit 23413b51b2 added --with-expat
configure option and expat dependency when BR2_PACKAGE_EXPAT is
configured. When cross-compiling, gdb configure fails because the host
system libexpat is referenced.

Configuring gdb with
	--with-libexpat-prefix=$(STAGING_DIR)/usr
fixes the reference and allows gdb to build successfully.

Tested with arm-buildroot-linux-gnueabihf toolchain.

b488f356ed directfb: add an option for debugging support
DirectFB provides two options for debug:
* --enable-debug-support (default is yes)
* --enable-debug (default is no)
The first one provides the functions to print debug information. These
functions can be called inside DirectFB, or by an external DirectFB
driver in another package.
The second one enables verbose mode in DirectFB, using these functions.

Buildroot currently provides an option for the second one only. The
first one - which is necessary for the second one - is always enabled,
because this is the default value.

The new option (BR2_PACKAGE_DIRECTFB_DEBUG_SUPPORT) makes it possible
to disable debugging support (--disable-debug-support) in order to
build the library with no debug feature at all.

When debugging support is disabled, the target installation path of
drivers (/usr/lib/directfb-<version>) is suffixed with -pure. The
public library (/usr/lib/libdirectfb.so) remains unchanged.

Some external DirectFB drivers will install into
/usr/lib/directfb-<version>-pure in release mode. For that reason, it
is important that DirectFB can be configured to use this directory.

5465107eef fluxbox: explicitly configure optional dependencies
The following commit explicitly configures optional dependencies based
off the respective package selections for a given configuration.

In addition, this commit also cleans up some obsolete/incorrect
arguments. With the introduction of (at least) Fluxbox 1.3.7, the
'--with-imlib2-prefix' argument no longer exists. The argument
'--with-xpm-prefix' has never existed; it was accidentally committed
mimicking the configuration used to provide imlib2.

d6d237c8c2 uclibc: remove Xtensa specific version
Since we now have uClibc-ng, and it is used as the default uClibc
version, there is no real need to keep the Xtensa version: this
version is just a specific Git revision of uClibc master branch, and
uClibc-ng is also based on uClibc master branch.

In addition, since in the choice of uClibc versions, uClibc-ng is
already *before* the Xtensa specific version, uClibc-ng has in fact
already been the default uClibc version for Xtensa since uClibc-ng
support was introduced.

See for example:

  http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/c85/c854fae31d82e0f11d5a8b5bfc196c29bd7e21db/config

for a build on Xtensa with the internal toolchain, where in fact
uClibc-ng is used instead of the Xtensa specific version.

932a958672 infra/pkg-kconfig: require an non-empty KCONFIG_FILE
Currently, we only check that the variable is defined, which is not
enough since we really want it to be non-empty.

We however can't check it points to an existing file, because the
package might well not be extracted yet, and we may use an internal
defconfig. If that file does not eventually exist, there will be a
failure down the road at build time when we try to copy it...

e6c57b580d package/matchbox-panel: fix WiFi monitoring
matchbox-panel can build a simple applet to monitor the WiFi. For that,
it tries to see if libiwl is available; if so, WiFi monitoring is
enabled, otherwise it is disabled; there is not option to explicitly
enable or disable it.

Currently, matchbox-panel depends on the wireless-tools package.
However, that's not enough, since the library will only be installed if
explicitly enabled in the menuconfig *and* this is not a static build.

Change the dependency to be on the library, not the package.

It is possible to use ACPI to monitor the battery with the battery
mini-applet. If ACPI is not explicitly enabled, then APM is used if
available; if ACPI is not explcitly enabled and APM is not available,
then the battery applet is not built.

However, APM is not really current nowadays, and possibly missing for a
bunch of architecture...

What is a pity is that there is no way to explicitly enable or disable
the applet; it only relies on auto-detection... :-(

So, forcibly use ACPI on platforms that have it, that is x86 (32- and
64-bit) and AArch64.

d890098d05 package/matchbox: drop useless dependencies
xlib-libXft is only needed when building a 'standalone' matchbox, which
means not using matchbox-lib.

But we *are* building matchbox-lib, and we do not support the standalone
mode (and probably won't, as even upstream says it is ugly, by lack of
theming).

Similarly, xlib-libXext is only used for its 'xsync' extension, for
which support is entirely commented-out in matchbox.

So, drop the dependency on xlib-libXft, and make it explicit we're not
building either standalone modes; drop xlib-libXext.

That's because it forgets to link with -lm.

However, adding "MATCHBOX_CONF_ENV = -lm" does not solve the issue, as
it still does not link with -lm at all.

Furthermore, the package does not autoreconf, since it is missing the
gconf m4 macros, and Buildroot does not have a package for gconf, hence
we can not even patch Makefile.am and autoreconf.

Patching Makefile.in (in addition to .am) could be a solution, but
support for compositing is explicitly marked as being experimental.

75326a51b2 package/matchbox: fix option prompts
Use the package names instead of some fancy human-readable strings. ;-)

Note: the matchbox package is really named matchbox-window-manager by
upstream. However:
  - it already is in a section of the menu title 'X window managers'
  - users are probably only looking for 'matchbox'
  - keeping just 'matchbox' keeps it in sync with the Kconfig variable,
and allows us to not handle a legacy entry (see a previous commit)
  - matchbox-window-manager is a bit long. ;-)

So, in this case, the short 'matchbox' prompt is used instead of the
real upstream name.

Remove "Disable tests and manpages" patch because opkg no longer
builds C tests into libopkg as of commit
ef8ae066cfa898b6366198e429cbeb4c94c92939.

Remove "Fix libtool issue with recent libtool" patch because the patch
comments indicate that it is no longer required with opkg version
0.3.0.

Select libarchive package dependency, as opkg requires it as of
release opkg-0.3.0-rc0 (see the opkg NEWS file).

0552a367db Remove --{enable, disable}-debug configure flags.
Adding this flag when BR2_ENABLE_DEBUG is activated make several
packages to produce binaries that do not work as expected (e.g., dhcp,
lame, nano). Moreover, the help message of BR2_ENABLE_DEBUG does not
say it is adding this flag. It is supposed to build packages with
debugging symbols enabled. So, let it do that only.

* package/Makefile.in: Do not add --{enable,disable}-debug flags.

4433c7d647 python3: add patch to fix logic to get gcc paths
The Python setup.py has a function called add_gcc_paths(), which
executes gcc -E -v to get the list of header paths searched by

62d925ee68 upmpdcli: fix static linking issue
Fixes:
http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/7ed/7ed85071bc06b4806e90b278a0736ea70c01b456/

Upmpdcli forgets to take the dependencies of libupnpp into consideration,
breaking static linking, so help it.

Libupnpp unfortunately doesn't provide a .pc file, so manually handle its
dependencies here.

The build system doesn't expand LIBS from the configure step, so manually
pass it to make.

5f08ba100e package/sconeserver: fix static link with openssl
When linking statically, the order of libraries on the linker command
line is important, and sconeserver got it wrong.

Also, sconeserver does not use pkg-config, so it misses the private
libs of -lcrypto, which is linking with -lz.

Fix that:
  - add a patch to configure.in to fix the order of libraries;
  - forcibly pass -lz when linking statically with openssl.

Note: we were already reconfiguring sconeserver, because it comes from
the github repository.

The pcre library bundled in php is not configurable through the usual

1ae0e16afd neardal: properly quote output of pkg-config
Commit 5504039c4e (neardal: fix readline/libedit detection with static
linking) added the output of pkg-config to the LIBS shell variable without
adding quotes around it, breaking the logic if the output would ever consist
of more than 1 word.

Now, pkg-config --libs ncurses currently only outputs '-lncurses', so
nothing is really broken (for now atleast), but lets add the quotes before
it does or the syntax gets copied somewhere else where it does.

dea306c78b portaudio: fix static linking issue with portaudio
Fixes:
http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/25f/25f8088ecb276ff4559a56fcc4f1b92d11f7deac/

As opposed to the other audio backends, the configure script does NOT use
pkg-config to figure out how to link with portaudio, breaking static linking
as portaudio uses pthreads.

0cfb5549b3 kconfig-package: add support for config fragments
Adds functionality to the kconfig infrastructure to merge additional
configuration fragment files to the main configuration file of
kconfig packages, using support/kconfig/merge_config.sh

Typical use-case is when you want your configuration to be
kept in sync with an upstream (def)config file, but do require
some minor local modifications.

Disables -update-config and -update-defconfig targets when
fragment files are set.

[Thomas: take into account comments made by Arnout:
  - Minor fixes in the documentation changes
  - Add @ before the tests done in the $(1)-update-config and
    $(1)-update-defconfig targets.]

The ipmiutil buildsystem doesn't take dependencies of libcrypto (E.G. zlib)
into consideration, causing link issues when linking statically.

The build system doesn't handle LIBS, so there is no simple way to fix this
outside patching the buildsystem. As we are very close to the release, lets
just mark it as !static for now.

384c919321 binutils: fix xtensa ld bug triggered by --gc-sections
elf_xtensa_gc_sweep_hook doesn't correctly unreference symbols that were
made local, that results in link failure with the following message:

BFD (GNU Binutils) 2.24 internal error, aborting at elf32-xtensa.c line
  3372 in elf_xtensa_finish_dynamic_sections

elf_xtensa_gc_sweep_hook determines symbol reference type (PLT or GOT) by
relocation type. Relocation types are not changed when symbol becomes
local, but its PLT references are added to GOT references and
plt.refcount is set to 0. Such symbol cannot be unreferences in the
elf_xtensa_gc_sweep_hook and its extra references make calculated GOT
relocations section size not match number of GOT relocations.

Fix it by treating PLT reference as GOT reference when plt.refcount is
not positive.

5be059c5ae acl, attr: fix libdir variable in .la files
The acl and attr packages are using autoconf and libtool, but not
automake, which causes all sort of troubles. Some of them are already
worked around in acl.mk and attr.mk, but there is another one: the
libdir variable in the .la file remains empty, which causes libtool to
sometimes be confused about where the acl and attr libraries are
installed.

This was causing build issues with libarchive, but interestingly only
in situations where we had zlib *and* libxml2 also part of the build,
which maybe affects how libtool in libarchive behaves since libarchive
can use zlib and libxml2 as optional dependencies.

So what this patch does is to mungle the libattr.la and libacl.la
files to make sure they contain the right libdir values. Yocto is
doing exactly the same thing.

Upstream attr and acl have been converted fully to automake, so
hopefully the upcoming upstream release will allow us to get rid of
those hacks, but in the mean time, it seems to be the most appropriate
solution.

Here is a minimal defconfig that exhibits the problem, and which
allows to show that this patch fixes it:

69964d8180 Revert "package/ola: fix autoreconf issue for host-ola"
This reverts commit 884af65fd5. Thanks
to the change of the installation path of host-autoconf-archive
macros, host-ola will no longer see them when doing its autoreconf, so
the patch that was added by the commit being reverted here is no
longer needed.

2c490f00c8 host-autoconf-archive: install to a non-standard location
The host-autoconf-archive package was added to provide the necessary
autoconf macros for the libsigrok package, and later also used for the
thrift package.

However, it installs its autoconf macro in
$(HOST_DIR)/usr/share/aclocal, which is part of the include directory
of autoconf macros used for all autoreconf invocations. Unfortunately,
using those macros for all packages is causing a number of
regressions: one on host-ola fixed in commit
884af65fd5, and one in snmpp. Those
packages are autoreconf'ed, but if they are autoreconf'ed with the
autoconf-archive macros installed, they no longer work.

To solve this problem, this commit implements a simple solution that
makes using host-autoconf-archive macros an opt-in mechanism. To
achieve this, the autoconf-archive package is modified to install its
macros in a special directory, and only the packages that really want
to use those macros will have to pass a -I flag pointing to this
directory in their <pkg>_AUTORECONF_OPTS variable.

d8bef8038d libnftnl: needs kernel headers >= 3.1
Contrary to what commit f5866484f (libnftnl: exclude for CS PPC toolchains)
stated, a missing sa_family_t definition IS specific to the kernel headers
version, and not something particular to the CS toolchains, so instead
require 3.1+ headers.

The specific kernel change fixing the headers is:
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=6602a4baf4d1a73cc

The only reverse dependency of libnftnl (nftables) already needs 3.4+, so

af863a3bc0 binutils: fix xtensa gas trampolines regression
xtensa trampolines relaxation optimization caused the following build
errors:
Error: operand 1 of 'j' has out of range value '131643'
Error: operand 1 of 'j' has out of range value '4294836162'
Error: operand 1 of 'j' has out of range value '4294836072'

Extra condition 'abs (addr - trampaddr) < J_RANGE / 2' for trampoline
selection results in regressions: when relaxable jump is little longer
than J_RANGE so that single trampoline makes two new jumps, one longer
than J_RANGE / 2 and one shorter, correct trampoline cannot be found.

Drop that condition.

Upstream status: patch submitted.
Fix squashed into the optimization patch.

51136ebd1d xlib_libXfont: work around missing __ELF__ symbol on microblaze

http://autobuild.buildroot.net/results/988/988022e559af81d9b7dfc716dfb84bd0fa3698f2/

And many more.

The microblaze toolchains don't define the __ELF__ preprocessor symbol even
though they do use the elf format. LibXfont checks for this symbol to know
if weak symbols are supported, and otherwise falls back to emulation code
using dlopen - Causing linker issues for stuff using libXfont.

Work around it by defining the symbol here as well.

8c48821138 autotools-package: also handle pre-installed external toolchain in .la fixup
The .la fixup handling looks for paths starting with /usr and assumes
that they are missing the installation prefix (i.e. $(STAGING_DIR)). It
already handles the cases that $(STAGING_DIR) itself and $(BASE_DIR)
are under /usr, but it does not yet handle the case that a
pre-installed external toolchain is under /usr (and tracks that fact
in some .la file). For instance, if you use buildroot to generate a
toolchain with HOST_DIR=/usr/local/some_path, this problem will occur.

Fix this in the same way as $(STAGING_DIR) and $(BASE_DIR), but in
addition check that TOOLCHAIN_EXTERNAL_INSTALL_DIR is non-empty. For
internal toolchains, it is empty and the sed expression would fail.

6e55cd5d60 libfreeimage: disable on ARC and Blackfin
libfreeimage fails to build on ARC, due to compiler issues:

  Error: invalid register number `63'

This should probably be fixed at the compiler level.

It also fails to build on Blackfin, due to numerous libfreeimage
issues:

1/ Missing LL suffixes in Source/OpenEXR/IlmImf/ImfFastHuf.cpp. This
can be fixed by backporting upstream OpenEXR commit
     57ecf581d0.patch.

2/ Invalid characters in libraw_x3f.cpp. This can be fixed by
     applying dos2unix on the file.

3/ Usage of too long constants in an unsigned long in
dcraw_common.cpp, in code like "id == 0x4434303430" where id is
an "unsigned long" i.e 32 bits on 32 bits platform.

Due to (3) being apparently unsolved upstream, and causing a build
error on Blackfin, we disable libfreeimage on this
architecture. However, this code seems so broken that making
libfreeimage as entirely broken would maybe be a better option.

60e5ed19e7 gdb: disable on Blackfin
gdbserver does not build on Blackfin FLAT (undefined reference to
`_td_thr_tlsbase') and while it builds on Blackfin FDPIC, it's pretty
unlikely that it is going to work properly with the cross-gdb provided
by the Analog Devices toolchain: the Analog Devices toolchain provides
a 6.6 cross-gdb, while we use gdb 7.8.2 for gdbserver.

Therefore, let's simply disable gdb completely for Blackfin.

e2d3e1de84 poppler: help finding libtiff in static linking scenarios
In static linking scenarios, poppler doesn't find libtiff because it
doesn't use pkg-config, so it doesn't know which additional libraries
it should link with to test the availability of libtiff. We help
poppler in this work by passing a LIBTIFF_LIBS variable, resulting for
a pkg-config invocation.

Also, since poppler uses pkg-config, we make this dependency explicit
in this patch, even though it was already carried by the fontconfig
dependency.

19d5953bf1 sh4: fix toolchain creation
The Linux kernel does force compile with -m4-nofpu, which is only
available when building a multilib toolchain.
The interesting part here is, that buildroot use --disable-multilib for
gcc configure, but enables --with-multilib-list=m4,m4-nofpu in
the default configuration for Qemu targeting r2d emulation.
This results in a toolchain, which can be used for the kernel and
for userland without creating a multilib toolchain with different
kinds of libgcc version. In the multilib case there would be
subdirectories created (!m4 and m4-nofpu). As buildroot uses a
short version of toolchain creation, a multilib enabled gcc build
fails when creating libgcc.

So the best solution is to just keep multilib disabled, but always
add --with-multilib-list when sh4/sh4eb/sh4a/sh4aeb is choosen.

Tested with sh4/sh4a toolchain build and qemu defconfig with
gcc 4.8.x/4.9.x (with and without C++ enabled), uClibc and glibc.

Disable sh4a/sh4aeb for uClibc, as it does not implemented, yet.

9fa6209fd2 pkg-infra: assign BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR so it is recursively-expanded
Currently, assigning to BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR but referencing variable
assigned to later, fails. Here's a failing test-case, which is the
reduced test-case of how we handle BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR for now (warning
added for test-case):

    export BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR
    BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR += $(XENOMAI_SOURCE)
    XENOMAI_VERSION = 2.6.4
    XENOMAI_SOURCE = xenomai-$(XENOMAI_VERSION).tar.bz2
    $(warning BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR='$(BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR)')
    all:

Run it with simply make:

    $ make
    BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR=' '

Now, change the first line to read:

    export BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR =

And we now get:

    $ make
    BR_NO_CHECK_HASH_FOR=' xenomai-2.6.4.tar.bz2'

This new behaviour will be needed later for Xenomai, which handles the
version string in an unusual way, so we can exclude its custom versions.

And many more.

With the recent inclusion of systemd-dhcp, network-manager no longer builds
on uClibc/musl as it uses:

- CLOCK_BOOTTIME (not available in uClibc 0.9.33.2)
- IPTOS_CLASS_* (not available in uClibc/musl)
- Uses locale functionality (may not be available in uClibc)

Now, patches could be written to make these things optional, but systemd is
historically not known to be receptive of such kind of patches (and NM wants
to be able to sync with systemd with minimal effort, so is not interested in
diverging from upstream), and NM is big / has lots of dependencies so just
mark it (e)glibc-only like systemd.
