fbbcacff7d board/qemu/sh4*: Remove linux-headers patch
Previous patch about time data structures [1] provided a dirty fix
that did not solve the real issue.

After discussing with Linux folks on the SuperH mailing list [2],
the patch was deemed unnecessary, as the problem lied in uclibc.

247267c358 configs/orangepi_zero_plus2_defconfig: bump BSP versions
Bump Linux to 5.10.10 and U-Boot to 2020.10. In the new kernel sunxi-mmc
driver has been switched to asynchronous probe. As a result, mmc indexes
can be shuffled breaking board boot. Add patch that pins mmc indexes to
their original ordered values.

9365c1de5b configs/bananapi_m1_plus_defconfig: new defconfig
This commit adds support for Sinovoip's Banana Pi
M1+. It is mostly based on bananapro_defconfig
but with appropriate device tree and minor tweaks:

- apply bananapi-m1-plus device tree in linux
- apply bananapi_m1_plus defconfig for uboot
- apply patch for OOB IRQs on new device tree
- update device tree name in boot.cmd, genimage.cfg
- update symlink for BRCM driver in rootfs_overlay
- overall clean-up of the config

Tested on BPI-M1+ V1_1.

38d04e6b13 configs/orangepi_r1_defconfig: change to GPT partitions for root=PARTLABEL support
GPT provides partition labels, which can be used to tell the kernel to find
the rootfs based on it (root=PARTLABEL=rootfs) as a nicer/more extensible
solution than the MBR disk signature / PARTUUID.

When using GPT, the name of the partition in genimage.cfg is used as the
label for that partition.

The default GPT partition table location unfortunately conflicts with the
SPL location, so move the 16KB GPT table after it.

16430fd8c6 configs/qemu_arm_vexpress_tz_defconfig: build start-qemu.sh
When tags was added by commit 011206b2bf
to detect the qemu command line, the qemu_arm_vexpress_tz_defconfig
was ignored due to a build issue.

This build issue has been fixed by previous patches, so we can
enable the runtime testing by adding the tag in the readme.txt
and the post-image script in the defconfig.

Since Qemu from HOST_DIR is now executed directly from BINARIES_DIR,
we can remove all the string before "qemu-system-*".

3fc3289a3f board/qemu/post-image.sh: execute from BINARIES_DIR
Usually the qemu command line start directly with "qemu-system-<arch> ...".
But the command line for qemu_arm_vexpress_tz_defconfig start by doing
"cd output/images && ../host/bin/qemu-system-arm". This is necessary
since boot binaries, except BL1, are primarily loaded via semi-hosting
so all binaries has to reside in the same directory as QEMU is started
from [1].

To order to handle this case correctly, update the post-image.sh used
by all qemu defconfigs to execute qemu from BINARIES_DIR.

Since we have to change the current directory use a subshell to
restore the current directory after Qemu execution.

a5fa2469e6 configs/rock64_defconfig: remove defconfig
The rock64 defconfig is currently broken [1][2] since a while due to
incompatibility between uboot-2017.09-rockchip-ayufan fork and pylibfdt.
Even with the latest uboot-2017.09-rockchip-ayufan fork version [3],
it doesn't build.

The original submitter tried the uboot upstream rock64-rk3328_defconfig
but the board doesn't boot [4].

In order to not release 2020.05 with a broken defconfig, let's remove
it. It can be re-added later once the uboot issue has been resolved.

4d15114713 configs/stm32mp157*: switch to use TF-A based configurations
This commit changes the stm32mp1 configurations to use the TF-A ->

it's also the only one that allows to use the STM32 Cube Programmer

As part of this, the genimage configuration file is now generated, as
it contains some file names that depend on the platform. Removing
partition-type from genimage.cfg is mandatory, since it would cause a
hybrid MBR partition table to be created, which itself would prevent
ATF from finding the ssbl parition.

71c255f594 configs/chromebook_elm: new defconfig
This commit adds supports for building buildroot kernel + rootfs
for MT8173 Elm board, also known as Chromebook Elm
(https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/acerchromebookr13).

Though Chrome-OS is officially supproted on this board, the
mainline kernel works as well (benchmarks + conformance), and so
the 5.9 kernel is used. As the 5.9 kernel isn't yet released, we
use the 5.9-rc5 for now, which will be up-revd to 5.9 once its
released.

Using the mainline kernel means that we have to apply certain patches
to get the HDMI screen working. These patches are lying in the
"drm-misc-next" list and will make it to the kernel after 5.9. At that
time, we will remove the patches and point Buildroot to use the latest
kernel (hopefully, 5.10).

This commit also adds an ITS file (for creating FIT images), an ARGS
file (for providing kernel args) and a "sign.sh" script to generate
signed kernel images. Though the "sign.sh" is very similar to the
coresponding file under board/chromebook/snow, it cannot be shared
between both boards, as the script requires access to the board
specific its / args file.

Additionally a readme & defconfig is added to help the user get started.

42866f0c69 board/chromebook: move "mksd.sh" out of chromebook snow folder
The same script is going to be used by the Chromebook Elm to generate
a bootable SD / USB image. Therefore, move the script out of the snow
folder to one level above (board/chromebook/snow -> board/chromebook).

Update the chromebook_snow_defconfig to reflect the new location of
the script.

For some SoCs (i.e.: i.MX8M Nano for now), the DDR training firmware

7d804aba66 board/freescale: increase the vfat size
The default iamge size is 32MiB, which is quite low by today's standards.
Besides, the AArch64 kernels are relatively big, which leaves not much
room, if at all, for users to experiment on the default image.

Increase the vfat size to a more reasonable 64MiB.

Note that users who derive an in-tree defconfig for their own case will
allways hit any arbitarary size we put here, so they will anyway have to
also derive this template for their own use-cases.

The Qemu version present in readme.txt files was needed when

For m68k-q800, we can use the upstream qemu since 4.2.0 release

80a044703a configs/qemu: update defconfigs to Linux 5.4.35
Linux version are changed to the new LTS kernel 5.4.35 for all qemu
defconfigs, except for riscv and csky. Thoses defconfigs are left
unchanged because they require either a custom Linux repository
or a specific kernel header version causing some difficulties when
upgrading to 5.4.35.

Update the nios2-10m50 linux.fragment to update the .dtb build directory
due to a change in kernel 4.20 [1]:

nios2: build .dtb files in dts directory

Align nios2 with other architectures which build the dtb files in the
same directory as the dts files. This is also in line with most other
build targets which are located in the same directory as the source.
This move will help enable the 'dtbs' target which builds all the dtbs
    regardless of kernel config.

This transition could break some scripts if they expect dtb files in
    the old location.

For x86 and x86_64 kernel, add the CONFIG_PCI symbol due a change in kernel
5.0 [2]. The option was previously enabled by default (default y).

PCI: consolidate PCI config entry in drivers/pci

There is no good reason to duplicate the PCI menu in every architecture.
Instead provide a selectable HAVE_PCI symbol that indicates availability
of PCI support, and a FORCE_PCI symbol to for PCI on and the handle the
    rest in drivers/pci.

Update the kernel of ppc-mac99 defconfig added in Buildroot 2019.08.

This version bump was tested on gitlab [4] using the newly introduced
boot-qemu-image.py script [5].

575493c186 board/qemu: add post-image script for gitlab qemu testing
This commit add a post-image script to be used by each qemu board
defconfig in order to generate start-qemu.sh in BINARIES_DIR. The
start-qemu.sh script can be used by Buildroot user to start Qemu
or by a gitlab CI.

To find the correct qemu command line, we use the second post script
argument which must contain "$(BR2_DEFCONFIG)"

    BR2_ROOTFS_POST_SCRIPT_ARGS="$(BR2_DEFCONFIG)"

The post-image script expect something like
"/path/to/qemu_aarch64_virt_defconfig" in BR2_DEFCONFIG.

Doing a basename allow to retrieve the name of the defconfig file that
should match on on the "tag" previously introduced in readme.txt files.

For running in the CI, as well as running from a remote machine (e.g. on
a remote build machine), it is better not to start in graphical mode,
but only with the serial line attached to the terminal. The post-build
script prepares two sets of arguments for each case, graphical or
serial, and stores them in the start-qemu.sh script, which then decodes
which to use, based on an argument on the command line (default is still
graphical)

sh4/sh4eb needs a special handling by adding "-serial stdio -display
none"; others only require "-nographics". Some qemu command lines
already contain "-serial stdio", but that does not play nicely with
"-nographics", we remove that when going serial-only (although this
might seem counter-intuitive).

Finally, we ensure the script uses our qemu-system (if it was built).

011206b2bf board/qemu: add defconfig file name as tag after the qemu command line
This commit add the name of the Qemu defconfig file after each
qemu command line in order to retrieve it easily.

Since a readme.txt can be shared between several Qemu defconfig, we
need at least one qemu command line in readme.txt for each defconfig.

For now, ignore the qemu_arm_vexpress_tz_defconfig since it fail to build
due to python script issue [1]. Anyway the arm vexpress boot is tested
with qemu_arm_vexpress_defconfig.

278f908d55 configs/qemu{x86, x86_64}: add a serial console
The current Buildroot defconfigs for qemu_x86 and qemu_x86_64
instantiate a console on tty1, which appears on QEMU's
graphical window. Add a console on the serial port (ttyS0) to
be used later for gitlab testing.

This change is need since the script used for gitlab testing
needs to use a serial output with pexpect.

This change is similar to the one made for raspberrypi [1] to
handle HDMI and serial console:

This requires three changes:
 1. have two 'console=' entries in the kernel command line: tty1,
    then ttyS0;
 2. change BR2_TARGET_GENERIC_GETTY_PORT to "console", so it starts
    a getty on the last console= passed to the kernel, ttyS0;
 3. add a new getty on tty1 to the generated inittab.

Step 2 is actually obtained by removing BR2_TARGET_GENERIC_GETTY_PORT
entirely from the defconfigs, since "console" is the default value.

Step 3 requires a post-build script since the Buildroot makefiles can
configure only one console.

Note: instead of simply adding a new getty on ttyS0 (which would
work) this patch actually changes BR2_TARGET_GENERIC_GETTY_PORT to
instantiate a console on UART, then adds back tty1 via
post-build.sh. This is done only to avoid the "GENERIC_SERIAL" comment
where we instantiate a console on QEMU graphical window, then
instantiate a really-serial console on another line.

The result is these two inittab lines:

  console::respawn:/sbin/getty -L  console 0 vt100 # GENERIC_SERIAL
  tty1::respawn:/sbin/getty -L  tty1 0 vt100 # QEMU graphical window

d130f0a837 board/freescale/common/imx: use nodtb variant in uboot images for 8M
In board/freescale/common/imx/imx8-bootloader-prepare.sh, when
invoking mkimage_fit_atf.sh, the U-Boot DTB is passed as parameter, to
be included in the FIT image. This parameter usually comes from
BR2_ROOTFS_POST_SCRIPT_ARGS config option. The variable
BL33=u-boot.bin set in the invocation uses the u-boot image which is
including its embedded DTB. This means the U-Boot DTB is included
twice.

The upstream script mkimage_fit_atf.sh plus its Buildroot patch are
meant to use by default the nodtb variant and use the DTB in a
separate image. See [1] and [2].

The U-Boot default DTB which will be included in u-boot.bin image is
selected with U-Boot CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE, or DEVICE_TREE
variable when invoking "make". If one of those option is not aligned
to the BR2_ROOTFS_POST_SCRIPT_ARGS config option, it's possible the
two included U-Boot DTBs are different. If such case happens, the
built-in DTB is always used, regardless of the other one, selected
with BR2_ROOTFS_POST_SCRIPT_ARGS.

For example, this case happens for TechNexion Pico Pi i.MX8M and
i.MX8MMini. Since the U-Boot defconfig assumes the nodtb version will
be used, it does not set the default DTB. The u-boot.bin will include
the fsl-imx8mm-evk instead. Including the wrong board DTB breaks the
USB and UMS commands (and possibly others). Since those boards does
not have SD card slots, a recovery serial download is needed at every
update.

This patch make sure that only the separate U-Boot DTB will be
included in the FIT image by using the nodtb variant.

ada40afb32 configs/raspberrypi: change deprecated pi3-miniuart-bt option to miniuart-bt
The pi3-minuart-bt Device Tree overlay has been renamed to
miniuart-bt, as it is useful/usable for other platforms than the
RPi3. So we use this DT overlay and rename the
--add-pi3-miniuart-bt-overlay option to --add-miniuart-bt-overlay
accordingly.

Also set loadaddr to 0x82000000 and fdtaddr to 0x88000000, replacing the

a0971ec7ec configs/qemu_arm_vexpress_tz: Armv7-A emulation with TrustZone services
This change introduces a Qemu board for an Armv7-A target executing
with OP-TEE secure world services. The target Linux based normal world
embeds the standard minimal filesystem with OP-TEE non-secure components
embedded files from OP-TEE test, examples and benchmark packages.

qemu_arm_vexpress_tz_defconfig differs from qemu_arm_vexpress_defconfig.
Supporting both secure and non-secure worlds on the Arm target mandates
a secure world, here OP-TEE OS, and a bootloader to boot both worlds,
here TF-A (boot/arm-trusted-firmware). Here non-secure Linux kernel is
booted through U-boot

  TF-A bootloader (BL1/BL2) => OP-TEE (BL32) => U-boot (BL33).
  | Executes as secure | Secure | Execs as Non-secure
  | Loads BL32/BL33 in RAM | Jumps to BL33 | Always booted after
  | Jumps to BL32 once done | as Non-secure | secure world inits

Vexpress and vexpress-tz defconfigs also differs in that Qemu emulates
a Cortex-A9 in the former and a Cortex-A15 in the later. Cortex-A15
is the Armv7-A CPU used in upstream TF-A and OP-TEE OS packages hence
selected here.

Defconfig adds a fragment to the Linux kernel native configuration to
enable OP-TEE driver support.

Defconfig adds a fragment to the U-Boot native configuration set boot
command, enable semihosting and remove U-Boot persistent environment
storage support.

The defconfig also enables build of the Qemu emulator in case the
system installed Qemu does not yet support CPU TrustZone secure state.

bff5ae49ec configs/stm32mp157_dk: new defconfig
This commit adds a minimal defconfig to build a Buildroot system for
the STM32MP157 Discovery Kit, which is the low-cost evaluation
platform for the new STM32MP157 system-on-chip from ST. This
system-on-chip features a single or dual Cortex-A7, a single
Cortex-M4, and a wide variety of peripherals.

This commit includes a custom linux configuration file, because there
is no specific defconfig for this platform in the kernel, only
multi_v7_defconfig supports it, which is really a massive
defconfig. That's why a custom linux configuration file is added.

A small U-Boot config fragment allows to disable the watchdog, so that
userspace by default doesn't need to have a watchdog daemon running.

The vendor U-Boot and Linux trees are used for the moment, but the
platform support is being upstreamed, so switching to upstream
versions will be possible in the relatively near future.

4f9f3a0e96 board/freescale: Introduce UBOOTBIN in spl genimage templates
For boards like imx7d-pico, u-boot.img changes to u-boot-dtb.img in
U-Boot v2019.07. Therefore, we need to pick u-boot.img or u-boot-dtb.img
depending on the board configuration.

Just like was done in commit 52344e556f for the generic genimage
template, replace the U-Boot file name with UBOOTBIN, which is set
according to the BR2_TARGET_UBOOT_FORMAT_* option. We also need to set
the correct value for this variable for the u-boot.img and
u-boot-dtb.img cases.

While we're at it, rename the partition from 'u-boot-img' to 'u-boot',
to stay consistent with the generic genimage template.

626c9705d2 board/qemu: ensure root is available before mounting it
On my machine, it happens once in a while that the virtualised machine
boots too fast for the rootfs to be available at the time the kernel
tries to mount it.

For example, board/qemu/arm-vexpress/readme.txt suggested changing
"-smp 1" up to "-smp 4". But doing so here causes a kernel panic:

VFS: Cannot open root device "mmcblk0" or unknown-block(0,0): error -6
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
    1f00 131072 mtdblock0
     (driver?)
    1f01 32768 mtdblock1
     (driver?)
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on

79b8540d62 board/pc: drop unused grub-efi.cfg file
Following commit fee29b05bb
("configs/pc_x86_64_efi: use a GPT partition table"),
board/pc/grub-efi.cfg is no longer used anywhere: the
post-image-efi-gpt.sh script generates the grub configuration.

Also, since post-image-efi-gpt.sh generates a grub configuration file
that uses the root filesystem partition UUID as the root= kernel
argument, the instructions in the readme.txt file to tweak root= from
/dev/sda2 to /dev/vda2 is no longer relevant. This was noted in the
commit log of fee29b05bb:

The root filesystem location is passed to the kernel by a partition
UUID, so it is possible to boot on QEMU, directly from the disk image,
or dump the image to a physical device.

51d6d6c580 Fix rasberry Pi 64bit firmware overlay inclusion
This patch enables the inclusion of the Pi's overlays. Previously
the overlays were not included in the genimage configuration.
This patch ensures overlays are included in the sdcard (when
enabled) by defaulting to the inclusion of an empty
output/images/rpi-firmware/overlays directory in genimage cfg.

The Pi's overlays are built with the following config
variables:
BR2_PACKAGE_RPI_FIRMWARE=y
BR2_PACKAGE_RPI_FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DTBS=y
BR2_PACKAGE_RPI_FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DTB_OVERLAYS=y
BR2_LINUX_KERNEL_IMAGE_TARGET_CUSTOM=y
BR2_LINUX_KERNEL_IMAGE_NAME="Image"
BR2_LINUX_KERNEL_IMAGE_TARGET_NAME="Image modules dtbs"

After building, the dtbo files are present in the
output/images/rpi-firmware/overlays directory but not added
to the sdcard because they are missing from the genimage cfg
file.

332421c683 board/freescale/common/imx: fix imx8-bootloader-prepare for i.MX8M
The update of imx-mkimage in commit

broke the imx8-bootloader-prepare.sh script for i.MX8M, used in

The updated mkimage_fit_atf.sh script in imx-mkimage now needs

6327a8f0d6 configs/zynq_zybo: remove defconfig
This defconfig was added in October 2016 and was never updated since
then. It currently fails to build because U-Boot is too old and
doesn't build with host-openssl in version 1.1.x.

On February 13, 2019, the original submitter was notified, but didn't
reply, so let's remove the defconfig for this platform.

fd8a02fd75 configs/qemu: Update defconfigs to Linux 4.19.16
Linux version are changed to 4.19.16 (LTS) for all qemu defconfigs,
except for riscv. riscv defconfigs are left unchanged because they have
a custom Linux repository causing more difficulties when upgrading to
4.19 for riscv32. And for the riscv64, it has been updated recently to
Linux 4.20 by another contributor.

Patch for arm-versatile-nommu is changed into a git format

Add cache attributes for xtensa-lx60-nommu config because the commit
7bb516ca54
added a new config variable for memory cache attribute:
CONFIG_MEMMAP_CACHEATTR

All these updated configs have been built successfully.

fee29b05bb configs/pc_x86_64_efi: use a GPT partition table
Since all EFI-based systems support GPT, this commit changes
pc_x86_64_efi to use a GPT partition table. It shows an example of how
to craft a disk image with GPT partitioning instead of MBR. This is
achieved by means of a post-image script which uses
mkdosfs+mcopy+sfdisk, since genimage is unable to deal with GPT. Long
term, it would be ideal if genimage had GPT support, but until then,
this script shows how to achieve creating a GPT-based disk image.

The script was kept as simple as possible to make it easy to understand
and adapt for other purposes.

The root filesystem location is passed to the kernel by a partition
UUID, so it is possible to boot on QEMU, directly from the disk image,
or dump the image to a physical device.

0b28397a9b board/pc: ensure grub.cfg is copied to target filesystem
Before this commit, the grub configuration file was copied to the
TARGET_DIR in a post-image hook, after the filesystem has been
generated. It was kinda working because the board/pc's grub
configuration and the default one are the same and the later was
copied during the build process of the grub2 package.

This commit ensures the custom board/pc grub configuration is copied at
the right time.
