ac1910713c efl: remove broken JP2K loader
This option has been marked as broken since 2016.08. Since nobody
repaired it, we'll just remove it.

Since technically it was already removed in 2016.08, it's added to the
2016.08 section of the legacy menu.

f812addeb7 package/pkg-cmake: set CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR correctly on powerpc64{, le}
Like ARM, BR2_ARCH doesn't correspond to the uname -m. With cmake
CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR is expected to contain the uname -m value.

So we change CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR from powerpc64 -> ppc64 (big endian)
and powerpc64le -> ppc64le (little endian).

This corrects the cross compile to the powerpc64{,le} target
architecture for the mariadb (and possibly others) packages that
use the CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR variable and compare it against
Power64 based architectures.

687a313179 package/Config.in: explain that lua package names should start with lua
We have decided that lua packages should have a name that starts with
lua (like is the case for python and perl). However, we're not going to
rename all the existing lua packages that don't start with lua. This
makes it unclear for people adding packages how they should name the
package, so add a comment to package/Config.in to explain it.

It's rather terse but it gets the message across.

6a9c6311f8 gtest/gmock: bump to version 1.8.0
GTest version 1.8.0 includes gmock so merge both packages inside gtest

In this merge:

- Add gmock as a suboption of gtest (BR2_PACKAGE_GTEST_GMOCK)
  following advice from Arnout Vandecappelle
- Add BR2_PACKAGE_GMOCK as a legacy entry, selecting BR2_PACKAGE_GTEST
  and BR2_PACKAGE_GTEST_GMOCK.
- Use cmake to install libraries and headers and add missing files
  (gtest.pc, gtest-config, gmock.pc) in
  GTEST_POST_INSTALL_STAGING_HOOKS instead of redefining
  GTEST_INSTALL_STAGING_CMDS
- Remove patch on Python as gmock/gtest now supports python 3.0
  (commit 456fc2b5c4e9ebf05a5987dfe1ff0ac9ffeb53cc)
- Add the correct license in HOST_GTEST_LICENSE as all python code in
googlemock/scripts/generator is licensed under Apache-2.0 and not
  BSD-3c
- Fix URL of gtest project in Config.in
- Remove the gmock entry from DEVELOPERS
- Install gmock_gen directly, instead of as a symlink to gmock_gen.py

Notice that any external package that depends on gmock will cause an
immediate build termination because make doesn't know how to build
gmock. Since the user has just removed gmock from the legacy menu, it
should be quite obvious what needs to be done.

e2ac546c19 odroid-mali: mark package as BROKEN
The version of the khrplatform.h header bundled with odroid-mali has a
definition of the khronos_intptr_t and khronos_ssize_t that doesn't
match the official Khronos registry headers or the Mesa3D headers. Due
to this, it causes conflicts with some packages that redefines those
types (with the correct definitions), such as libepoxy.

Issue reported upstream at: https://github.com/mdrjr/c2_mali/issues/1

Since nobody bothered fixing the issue even though it has been happening
since July 2016 (first build failure at

bfd273d83a sngrep: use pkg-config to discover OpenSSL to fix static linking
Building sngrep with OpenSSL support in static linking configurations
currently fails due to undefined symbols in the OpenSSL library. It's
the usual problem with using AC_CHECK_LIB() to discover libraries
instead of the pkg-config based PKG_CHECK_MODULES().

Therefore, this commit introduces a patch that switches to using
pkg-config to discover OpenSSL. A preliminary patch is needed, without

a0121c7beb x264: fix build on OpenRISC
Even though x264 doesn't use an autoconf generated configure script
(and hence doesn't use the autotools-package infrastructure), it uses
config.guess and config.sub. The ones bundled in x264 are too old to
know about the OpenRISC architecture, so this commit leverages the
UPDATE_CONFIG_HOOK from the autotools-package infrastructure to update
config.sub and config.guess.

Yann E. MORIN
894ad2b094 core/pkg-cmake: better way to pass our CMAKE_MODULE_PATH
Currently, we tell cmake where to look for our own custom platform
description by passing the path to the moduls directory on the command
line.

However, this causes two different problems.

First, some packages simply set CMAKE_MODULE_PATH in their
CMakeList.txt, thus overriding our own path, and then our platform
description is not found.

Second, cmake may internally call sub-cmake (e.g. in the try_compile
macro), but the CMAKE_MODULE_PATH is not automatically passed down in
this case.

For the first problem, we could hunt down and fix all offenders, but
this is an endless endeavour, especially since packagers are told to do
so on the cmake wiki [0]:

    CMAKE_MODULE_PATH
tell CMake to search first in directories listed in
CMAKE_MODULE_PATH when you use FIND_PACKAGE() or INCLUDE()
        SET(CMAKE_MODULE_PATH ${PROJECT_SOURCE_DIR}/MyCMakeScripts)
        FIND_PACKAGE(HelloWorld)

The second problem could be solved by passing yet another variable on
the command line, that tells cmake to explicitly pass arbitrary
variables down to sub-cmake calls:

    -DCMAKE_TRY_COMPILE_PLATFORM_VARIABLES=CMAKE_MODULE_PATH

However, this only covers the case of try_compile. Even though no other
case is known yet, we'd still risk missing locations where we would need
to propagate CMAKE_MODULE_PATH, even some where we'd have no solution
like for try_compile.

Instead, ngladitz on IRC suggested that CMAKE_MODULE_PATH be set
directly from the toolchain file.

And indeed this fixes both problems explained above.

So be it.

But it doesn't break the build.

When host = target using the Sourcery CodeBench AMD64 2016.11 toolchain

build due to "Illegal instruction".

75cf694bb0 luarocks-package: introduce PKG_NAME_UPSTREAM
Since we now require Lua package names to start with "lua", it is likely
that the Buildroot name is different from the upstream LuaRocks name.
Add a feature to the luarocks-package infra that makes it easier to
handle this situation: the package can explicitly specify the upstream
name in PKG_NAME_UPSTREAM, and that name will be used in PKG_ROCKSPEC,
PKG_SOURCE and PKG_SUBDIR.

Add an explanation of this feature to the manual. To make the example
relevant, it is changed to lua-foo, where the upstream name is plain
foo. To avoid confusion with the dependency on a native library, that
dependency is renamed to bar.

55d74b88d6 luarocks-package: rework extraction
The luarocks package infra extracts the package directly under
$(BUILD_DIR), because the contents are always in a subdirectory name
<pkg>-<version>. However, this only works when the upstream package name
is the same as the Buildroot package name.

Instead, we can rely on the fixed structure of a .src.rock: it always
contains the source subdirectory in a directory called foo, where foo
is the basename of the .src.rock file. Therefore, we can extract into
a subdirectory of $($(PKG)_DIR), then move its contents up two
directory levels.

Note, we can't extract directly into $($(PKG)_DIR) because it's
possible that $($(PKG)_SUBDIR) == <pkg>-<version>. In that case, we
would try to move the directory unto itself and get "Directory not
empty". This is the case e.g. for the lpty package.

Two alternatives were considered but are more complicated:
- instead of using wildcards for the move, we could have used
  <.src.rock basename>/$($(PKG)_SUBDIR);
- instead of extracting with luarocks, we could use unzip to extract
(the .src.rock is a ZIP file), but then we also have to move the
.rockspec into the subdir. In addition, sometimes the ZIP file
contains a tarball instead of the extracted source.

8bd2e2f319 luaposix: fix runtime by selecting "bit32" instead of "bitop"
Since the bump of luaposix to 33.4.0, it doesn't work anymore at
runtime with LuaJIT or Lua 5.1. This can be tested with the following
defconfig:

BR2_x86_64=y
BR2_TOOLCHAIN_EXTERNAL=y
BR2_PACKAGE_LUA=y
BR2_PACKAGE_LUA_5_1=y
BR2_PACKAGE_LUAPOSIX=y

/usr/bin/lua: /usr/share/lua/5.1/posix/init.lua:17: module 'bit32' not found:
...

In older luaposix versions, it would try to load the 'bit' instead of
'bit32' module if LUAVER == 5.1. However, this feature was removed in
33.4.0.

So instead of adding a runtime dependency on luabitop, depend on
lua-bit32.

276f4fd562 lua-bit32: new package
This package is needed to make luaposix work.

The upstream name is just "bit32", but the luarocks infra doesn't
support an upstream name different from the Buildroot name. We therefore
have to explicitly set all variables and we need custom extract
commands.

0be874d89a luarocks-package: use $(HOST_PKG_VERSION) instead of $(PKG_VERSION)
The inner-luarocks-package macro was using $(3)_VERSION as the package
version, i.e. the version of the target package, even when it's the
host package. We should instead use $(2)_VERSION, i.e. the host package
version, like is done in inner-generic-package.

Since luarocks-package doesn't even support a host version, it doens't
make a whole lot of difference, but let's keep things consistent.

8d1128e8a8 fontconfig: needs host-gperf
Commit 701380c53b4d("fontconfig: add build fix for glibc 2.25") added
a patch that touches src/fcobjs.h. Package build system detects change
in timestamp and tries to regenerate fcobjshash.gperf which requires
gperf tool. So this commit adds dependency on host-gperf.

Since the patch is in upstream fontconfig, we can get rid of this
dependency once version is bumped next time.

df1b6d8cb2 libsidplay2: fix build on ppc64le by not autoreconfiguring
The libsidplay2 package build system is completely broken. It is made
of a top-level configure script, which calls into sub-configure
scripts in sub-directories. However, since it doesn't use the autoconf
provided AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS() mechanism, an "autoreconf" doesn't
recurse into the subdirectories.

Due to this, the aclocal.m4 in the libsidplay/ subdirectory doesn't
get re-generated when Buildroot autoreconfs the package. However,
since we patch one of the .m4 files in this subdirectory, when build
time comes, the package notices its aclocal.m4 is older than one of
the .m4 file, and triggers an automatic autoreconf.

Since <pkg>_AUTORECONF = YES is enabled, this automatic autoreconf
works fine: host-autoconf and host-automake are available.

Expect that on powerpc64le, we patch the configure script itself to
make it recognize powerpc64le. But this patching of the configure
script itself gets overwritten by the automatic autoreconf at the
beginning of the build step, causing the build to fail on powerpc64le.

Switching to AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS() would allow to fix this, but
libsidplay2 needs to pass custom configure options to each of the
sub-configure scripts, something that AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS() doesn't
support. And since libsidplay2 upstream looks completely dead, the
incentive to fix the whole thing is very limited.

Since what's broken is the autoreconfiguration of the package, what we
do is modify patch 0001-sidplay2-libs-2.1.1.patch to directly tweak the
configure script (instead of the relevant .m4 file). Thanks to this,
<pkg>_AUTORECONF = YES is no longer needed, the .m4 file is no longer
newer than the sub-configure script, and no automatic autoreconf
triggers at build time. This allows the package to build properly on
powerpc64le.

While we normally don't like patching 'configure' scripts directly, in
this case the size of the change in the configure script is very small,
and as explained above, the incentive to fix the package properly is
very limited.

In detail, the changes:

 * Patch 0001-sidplay2-libs-2.1.1.patch is turned into a Git-formatted
   patch

 * The irrelevant changes to Makefile.in files, aclocal.m4, config.h.in,
   sidint.h are removed.

 * The change to my_macros.m4 is applied directly to the corresponding
   configure script.

 * The change to the configure.ac script regarding libdir is applied
directly to the corresponding configure script.

 * The change to the configure.ac script regarding "*-k*bsd*-gnu" is
dropped, since we don't care about kFreeBSD support.

 * LIBSIDPLAY2_AUTORECONF = YES is dropped from the .mk file.

Also it disables mpd package for external ARC toolchain as it fails due

This patch should be reverted as soon as the patch for GCC becomes a

90f6ad4292 cmake: adjust dependencies added for libuv
Commit 1ffcf364b6 updated cmake to 3.7.0,
which requires selecting the libuv package. At the time, the libuv
package only depended on BR2_TOOLCHAIN_HAS_THREADS. However, later on,
it was changed in master to depend on BR2_TOOLCHAIN_HAS_THREADS_NPTL, a
change which was not taken into account in the cmake 3.7.0 bump that was
merged in the next branch.

Due to this, builds of cmake is attempted on architectures that don't
provide NPTL thread support, causing a build failure. This commit fixes
that by adjusting the dependency.

c69b14fe2f core/pkg-cmake: provide our own platform description
The handling of RPATH in cmake-3.7 has changed drastically, causing a
slew of build failures dues to libraries from the host being pulled in:

  - domoticz : http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/fd0/fd0ba54c7abf973691b39a0ca1bb4e07d749593a/
  - freerdp : http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/5d4/5d429d0e288754a541ee5d8be515454c5fccd28b/
  - libcec : http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/3f3/3f3593bab7734dd274faf5b5690895e9424cbb89/
  - and so on...

The bug was reported upstream [0], which dismissed it altogether [1] as
being expected behaviour, quoting:

I don't think there is anything wrong with that change on its own.
It merely exposed some existing behavior in a new case.

Instead, upstream suggested in that same message that a platform
definition be used instead, quoting:

If a toolchain file specifies CMAKE_SYSTEM_NAME such that a custom
`Platform/MySystem.cmake` file is loaded then the latter can set
them as needed for the target platform.

So here we are doing so:

  - we add a new platfom definitions that inherits from the Linux one,
    then overrides the problematic settings;

  - we change our toolchain file to use that platform instead;

  - we tell cmake where to find additional modules, so that it can find
    our custom platform file.

This has been tested to work in the following conditions:

 - pre-installed host cmake, versions 3.5.1 (Ubuntu 16.04) and 3.7.2
   (manually built)

  - internal cmake, versions 3.6.3 (the current version as of this
patch) and 3.7.2 (with the followup patches).

Thanks to Jörg, Ben and Baruch for the help investigating the issue.
Special thanks to Jörg for handling the discussion with upstream and
pointing to the relevant messages! :-)

9647c3c5e9 ncftp: fix host/target confusion
The ncftp build process tries to build and run a small program called
ccdv to beautify the build process output. If it manages to build and
run it, then it uses it.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work well when the target architecture is
close to the host architecture, but not exactly the same. Because both
architectures are close to each other, the test run of ccdv succeeds,
but real use of ccdv during ncftp build process causes an Illegal
instruction issue.

This for example happens with the CodeSourcery AMD64 toolchain, on a
build machine running an i7-4600U, and has been detected in the
autobuilders since the CodeSourcery AMD64 toolchain was upgraded at
the end of January:

  http://autobuild.buildroot.net/?reason=ncftp-3.2.6

The issue was also reported by Christopher Arguin back in July 2016:

  http://lists.busybox.net/pipermail/buildroot/2016-July/168026.html

and at the time, we identified that simply disabling the ccdv tool, by
passing --disable-ccdv, was enough to solve the issue. But Christopher
never submitted the patch, so the problem remained unfixed.

Therefore, we pass --disable-ccdv to the configure script, which
fixes:
