The libnss_wins and libnss_winbind libraries were installed in this way:
/lib/libnss_<service>.so
/lib/libnss_<service>.so.<major> -> /lib/libnss_<service>.so
This had been done like this in order to get something similar to the
other NSS libraries, which are usually installed in this way:
/lib/libnss_<service>-<version>.so
/lib/libnss_<service>.so.<major> -> /lib/libnss_<service>-<version>.so
However, besides these files, these other NSS libraries usually come
installed with:
/usr/lib/libnss_<service>.so -> /lib/libnss_<service>.so.<major>
This means that the NSS libraries follow the usual library installation
practice, i.e. that the non-versioned .so is a symlink to the versioned
.so, so that switching versions is easy. In the case of the NSS
libraries, the versioned .so is just also a symlink to a .so with a more
accurate version.
Hence, follow the same rules for libnss_win*.so*, and install these
libraries the other way around:
/lib/libnss_<service>.so -> /lib/libnss_<service>.so.<major>
/lib/libnss_<service>.so.<major>
This is also how these libraries are installed by a major OS like Ubuntu
14.10:
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so -> libnss_winbind.so.2
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so.2

As discussed, users should use a rootfs overlay or a post-build script
instead of a custom skeleton to override files installed by Buildroot,
so there is no point in having conditions when installing init scripts
or configuration files.

The libnss_wins and libnss_winbind libraries are required in order to
add support for the wins and winbind sources to the Name Service Switch
(NSS), so make it possible to install them. This is useful in order to
resolve NetBIOS names or user and group information from a Windows NT
server.
These libraries are installed to /lib/ like the standard libnss_*
libraries from (E)GLIBC.

Remove --localstatedir=/var from all autotools packages where it is no longer
needed.
Also remove --localstatedir=/var/lib/dhcp from package dhcp. localstatedir is
used by dhcp to set the default directory for the leases files. This can also
be done by setting --with-*-lease-file=/var/lib/dhcp/*, which is done in
dhcp.mk.
A custom --localstatedir is left in:
* proftpd.mk
* mysql.mk
This is safe to do:
One of the good thing with autoconf is that if you pass:
--localstatedir=/var ... --localstatedir=/var/something
Then /var/something will be used. So, we can set --localstatedir=/var
by default in the infrastructure, and still have certain packages doing

Some of the configure cache symbols changed name because some routines
were moved to libreplace instead of samba itself.
So change the naming for those affected so that samba can work nicely
again with some configuration directives (like interfaces = X).

samba produces particularly large binaries, and the relocations needed
for it do not fit in the possible relocation mechanisms available on
nios2. Since samba is very unlikely to be used on nios2, let's just
disable it, as we've done for AVR32.

When a package A depends on config option B and toolchain option C, then
the comment that is given when C is not fulfilled should also depend on B.
For example:

Otherwise, the comment would be visible even though the other dependencies
are not met.
This patch adds such missing dependencies, and changes existing such
dependencies from
depends on BR2_BASE_DEP && !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC
to
depends on BR2_BASE_DEP
depends on !BR2_TOOLCHAIN_USES_GLIBC
so that (positive) base dependencies are separate from the (negative)
toolchain dependencies. This strategy makes it easier to write such comments
(because one can simply copy the base dependency from the actual package
config option), but also avoids complex and long boolean expressions.

This option allows users to specify the maximum level for compiled-in
debug messages with -1 being none.
In a typical scenario of nmbd+smbd+smbpasswd this can save a full
megabyte of target space.

In order to solve
http://autobuild.buildroot.org/results/34f6843137efda20626af72714c110280ec577d7/build-end.log,
this patch makes the D-Bus package as well as all the packages that
select the D-Bus package 'depends on BR2_USE_MMU'.
In addition, for the specific case of gvfs, the missing
BR2_TOOLCHAIN_HAS_THREADS dependency is added (threads are required by
D-Bus, so they are also required by gvfs which selects D-Bus).

Contrary to what was written in samba.mk, the sys-quotas option
apparently does not depend on RPC support in the toolchain: Samba
builds perfectly fine on an uClibc toolchain without RPC support with
sys-quotas enabled.

The BR2_INET_RPC has for a long time been a not very descriptive
configuration option name, and with the advent of non-RPC glibc
toolchains and the apparition of libtirpc, we really need to rename it
to something more sensible, BR2_TOOLCHAIN_HAS_NATIVE_RPC.
